It's Over!

The garage sale that is! We did a whopping $350 worth of business. I hoping to break $500 and if people had been interested in clothes we probably would have come close. I always do a $5/bag clothes sale. Fill a bag for $5 - typically I sell a ton of clothes (~20 bags or so). Yesterday, I only sold 3 bags!!! And there was really decent stuff in there - Gymboree, things new with tags, etc. We did sell the older kyack and the swing (which we didn't have room for since we got the hammock set up in the backyard). And we did get rid of a ton of other household things - I things priced dirt cheap, since I really wanted to get rid of stuff.

Now to just pack it up and get it ready for Big Brother/Big Sister to come and pick up the rest of the stuff.

And now we get to enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Oiy!

Boy oh boy do we have a lot of stuff!!! Wayyyyy to much stuff really. Hopefully that will all change this weekend. The garage sale countdown has begun. The ad is placed, the signs are ready to be posted tomorrow night, the stuff is being sorted and priced....now for the money to start rolling in. So far I am somewhat in the hole. My neighbor Debbie is also having a sale this weekend and she came over and picked out a wreath and some deco edge scissors - so I was up $10 - but then I went and saw what she had - and came back with an area rug for $25 and a little bench I am considering.

Now my price tickets have finished printing so it's back to the grind....

Well, after getting inspired by Jenn's BroadRipple Socks she was working on at our knitting meetup, I decided that it would be the perfect traveling project. Since I will be clocking a whole lot of air miles in the coming month, it just makes sense to have a decent airline-friendly project to work on. I picked up some Fixation at my lys and I'm good to go. My first co attempted used an e-wrap, I quickly decided that it might be easier with a long-tail co, which seems to be working better.

Still sorting, sorting, cleaning, and pricing stuff for the garage sale. I'm really hoping for some decent weather on Saturday.

No time to knit :(

Aside from a lovely little knitting meetup this past week, I have not had much time to knit. At the meetup I did manage to finish my Bottoms Up Bucket, but it has the same problem as the BUP I did earlier. :( I did add an eyelet row and threaded a chain stitch matching yarn through it, which does help, but I don't know if it is enough. I think I will have to go back to the world of picking up stitches with the original Bucket.

I have been quite busy lately getting ready for a garage sale that is now less than a week away - YIKES! I am hoping to both rid my house of its excess clutter and make some extra cash. Now to go back to sorting....

Broken Needle

What a bummer! I started another BUP in Cotton-Ease Bubble Gum Pink and while doing the dang brim, I broke a needle! I think there must have been something not quite right with that needle because it kept coming off the cable, which never happened before for me. I was able to find an Addi that is working out fine, so it didn't stop the knitting. I now have the brim finished and just started on the band.

I'm also working away on Sitcom Chic pretty well - I'm using Lion Brand Microspun and I'm loving it. I actually originally bought it for Coral Shells, but got delayed on that sweater and decided to use it for a little Sitcom ChicKami Combo.

New Yarn!

Yeah! I got some surprise new yarn from my Secret Pal! Yippee! It is two balls of fun novelty yarn along with a simple scarf pattern. Picutes will follow probably tomorrow.

After reading Bonne Maries comments on the BUP, I decided to pick up some Cotton Ease at the store. I think that the problem with my last BUP, was that the yarn wasn't right. So I'm going to give this a try. Tho' I really dread that hand-aching brim!

Today I spent most of the day cooking and doing prep cooking (cutting up veggies) for Pete's new diet. He has been doing Atkins, but decided to switch to the South Beach diet, since it is a more balanced approach. He said that he wanted to exactly the 2 weeks of menus in the book, and asked if I would cook/prep all the meals for him. Normally when he is on these very specific diets, he takes care of all his own cooking, but since the menus are clearly outlined, which takes care the hardest part of meal planning for me -- THE PLANNING! So most of the food for at least the first 3 days is all ready. I also picked up a large lunch box for him to take his lunch to work. Hope he likes it.

Blocking a Cobweb!

As promised, here is a picture of Cobweb while spread out in all its glory on our bed. I didn't make it as big as the pattern suggested, but I think it will be just the right size.

And this is what I've done for the past week. To get some perspective, this whole section in front of this fence was our *compost bin* (yeah, I know it's more like a pile than a bin). There was some awesome compost underneath everything, but such a pain to get to. (It was there for quite a while and we just kept adding to the top). Well, I got down and dirty and moved most of it (except for the section in the middle, which will be done soon), separating our the finished compost from the not-so-finished compost. The pile on the right is finished and the large one on the left is not. I've already used a ton of the finished compost in the garden and the garden boxes that I've made for the veggie garden for this year.

So do you like? I felt like I just needed a change, seeing so many new blog templates lately inspired me.

In knitting news, the Cobweb Redux is ready for blocking, but I will have to wait until tomorrow when I can block it on our king size bed. It looks good and I think it will be even better after blocking. I'm planning to wear it for my neices wedding this June in Colorado. Now to just find a dress that will work with it. I tried on some things this weekend, but they just didn't work. I promise pics tomorrow.

I think I might start a little matching set of a Chickami and Sitcom Chic, but I will have to resolve myself to either put away or frog the Eyelet Cardi and current Chickami. Decisions, decisions!
