Updates!

The Knit1Purl2 box went out on Wednesday morning on its way to Lise! Here is what I contributed (with all the flurry of talk about the Red Heart yarn and such I feel a need to document what I put in) :)
This is the pink yarn that I got to make a vest for Ahren, I got matching Flutter yarn to go around the bottom hem of the vest. Ahren didn't like the colors (I can't understand why, since it is pink!)


This is the lavender yarn that I got to make Haiku. You can see the finished product here I had quite a bit left over so it made its way into the box.


The blue yarn was leftover from the Raglan in the Round that I made for Sean, you can see the finished product here. Actually, I'm not quite finished it, since I still need to do the grafting on the second underarm and also the neck stitches.


Today we are off to do a family picnic and I still need to pack our lunches.

The Knit1Purl2 box has arrived!!!!! Woo Hoo!! What fun fondling all the fibers. There are some yummy looking spinnable fibers in there too. If only I knew how to spin, that would easily be my first pick. I think that I know what I'm going to go with and I've had my *out stash* set aside for a while now, so it should be going out tomorrow sometime. :)

Yippee!

I just heard that the Great Stash Box is on it's way to my house!!! Yeah!!! Now to figure out what to swap. I have a couple things I've been toying with. hmmmm

I've also realized that my vitual knitting basket is quite out of date. I need to get that straightened out as well as some pics of my current wips.

A brief update, knitting-wise:

~just finished a multi-directional scarf
~just started a top-down raglan for me
~cast-on for top-down raglan for Sean (but might have to frog it, since I think I screwed it up)
~two-tone sweater for me (about 1/2 finished with the back panel)
~the first sleeve started for the new Eyelet Cardi from Chicknits

New Do!

This past weekend we visited my family in PA. Pete helped Jeff (my sister's financee) work on their new house and I helped Dawn (my sister) pack to get ready to move. She is due with her second baby in a few weeks so it is hard for her to move around. My mom had some good Me-Mom time with all three grandkids.

One of the highlights was that Ahren got a haircut! She is 6 1/2 years old and this was only her second haircut ever! She was so pleased to be able to donate her cut hair to Locks of Love. Here is her before the cut:


And here she is after, holding her 11" ponytail!


I have to say, she looks so adorable! Almost like a new little girl. She is so in love with her new Do, walking around with a little mirror looking in it all the time admiring herself.

Ah, my grown up little girl, er, young lady.

ARGH!

I had a really long post yesterday and it seems that blogger ate it! Darn it! Well, in the post I mentioned that I got my order from One Fine Yarn - yeah! One of the items was this very lovely Nepali Recycled Silk, I was a bit surprised by it, because I think I was thinking that it would have a colorway similar to a Noro yarn. But the variation is much more irratic, which is fine, except that I wanted to make a MultiDirectional Scarf with it and this yarn and this pattern just don't mix. I did about 90% of it and when I realized that I musta drop a stitch or two (tho' honestly, I don't think anyone would have noticed) it did give me reason to frog the whole thing.

I also got a gorgous loopy mohair - yum! But having never worked with loopy mohair I was frustrated by the difficulty in knitting the actual stitch and not the loops. I had wanted to make a shawl with it, but instead I picked up some Encore in a lovely shade of lavendar and will carry the two strands together. I really like the effect on the swatch I have done. This will be hopefully a raglan in the round.

Tonight I have tried casting on for Sean's Raglan in the Round in GREEN this time. I don't know if I have the stitches correct, each time I tried to figure them out, they just didn't seem to come out correct. Has anyone done this pattern and could help me?

I also had gotten some light worsted (maybe it is even DK) weight burgundy yarn that I really wanted to make for a sweater for myself. The problem, I have 1100 yards and it is only sold by the 10 ball bags. The solution, ChicKnits new pattern! I'm loving it - just exactly what I wanted! Love you Bonne Marie!
