I am making some progress on the ChicKami, it is looking good except that the ribbing is not exactly 1x1. For some reason I seem to have a hard time making 1x1 ribbing look right, I mean, it is not very forgiving - one little mistake and the whole thing is off. I keep telling myself that with time, I will get better since I will be able to identify types of stitches easier and therefore not make (or at least catch) the mistakes. The great thing about this kami is that once I got past the ribbing, it is so easy! All in the round with a knit stitch. We'll see if I'm still saying that when I get to the armholes!

All this knitting has mainly been a huge avoidance thing for the packing that I really should be doing!

Here you can see the difference in the siding on the house. To the left of the chimney is the old, to the right is the new. Whoa! What a huge difference!

The hat is finished! Yeah!! It even looks cool and fits! I used a pattern from The Knit Stitch book (lots of great patterns in that book and I love the meditations!)

I went to Dagmar's Yarn Shop yesterday and picked up some yummy soft purple/eggplant-y yarn to make a ChicKami So far I am only on the 3rd round, but I think once I get going it will cruise right along. This weekend we are going to be taking a major trip (from CT) to Virginia. Hopefully, if the kids will let me, I will be able to do a lot of knitting while sitting in the passanger's seat.

In other news, there is actual progress on our house! They are now working on the back getting it ready for the new siding. Eventually, I will get some more pictures up so you can see the huge difference.

The long awaited (okay, so not that long awaited) photos. Okay, so for some reason which I cannot figure out, this isn't showing the images. Hopefully, you can click on the boxes and then you can see the pictures.

This one is the sock made with Regia self-patterning yarn.

This is what I'm currently working on. It will be a watch cap made with rich earthy colors.

Yesterday we did go canoeing down a tiny bit of the CT River (from the canoe launch to the mouth of Whalebone Creek). It was a wonderful day! In the car I worked on my sock and was able to get it almost finished. On the way home, we stopped for ice cream and since the line was really long, I took my knitting to do while we waited in line. Pete just looked at me like I was crazy, but now the sock is done!

I did pick up The Knit Stitch at the LYS and have started on the in-the-round hat pattern in it. I think it will be for a gift, but I haven't exactly worked out who the recipient will be. So far it is looking pretty good, although I realized that I don't have the right size dpn for it. I think tomorrow I will have to take a drive to Dagmar's Yarn Shop (hmmm, she also has a set of Denise needles there....).

Saturday, the day to get things done, the day to spend with the family (or is that Sunday?). This morning we have been busily working on multiple dump runs. First there was at least two truckfuls of brush (bushes we had cut down) now we are on (I think) the third run of dump junk. The guys are even here from Yost working on the siding. What a productive day so far.

The plan for later this afternoon is to go canoeing. Pete has a place in mind, a river in central CT (I think). I will report back and let you know how it goes.

So here it is, my new blog. It seems that my old one has disappeared. So far, I'm just testing out some templates and settings.
