Gotta love a bargain!
Today on my way to the Fancy New CVS, I stopped in at the Old Closed CVS (which is next to the new one) to check out the fixtures that they were selling. The mom of one of my students mentioned that they seemed to have some good deals, so I thought I would take a look. After about a half-hour of checking out all the possibilities, I finally decided on a two sided fixture with clear, plexi, slanted shelves that would serve quite well as a book rack, on the flip side I could do an assortment of shelves and slanted shelves. The fixture is about 5 feet tall, which is taller than I'd really like, but I'm hoping that Nancy's husband can cut it down (I know it's possible to do and really wouldn't be terribly complicated, I just don't have the right equipment) to about 3 1/2 feet tall. I also think it would be really nice if we paint it, too. In any case, I ended up getting the 4 foot long fixture with bunches of plexi, slanted shelves, straight shelves and L shelves for $60! Considering the fact that we were planning to purchase a book display fixture for the room that was 3 feet long and maybe 3 feet tall, one-sided for $99 on sale, I think I got a good deal.
It was a bonus that it happened that I could pick up the fixture and drop it off and assemble it (with the help of James - maintenance guy) all in one day. Since I'm getting observed on Monday by a curriculum consultant, I was a little stressed that things would be in disarray on Monday, but I was able to get it set up and books on it, and it looks great!
