I'm still here :)

Well, it has been one heck of a fall for us. My newly 5 year old little guy, Sean has been diagnosed with food allergies. We now know that he is allergic to wheat (not celiac, but a food-allergy), we also highly suspect dairy, which we've removed from his diet. There are possibly other foods and we are awaiting the blood work results (which were done about 2 weeks ago - I'm getting nervous that they were lost or something!). Adjusting to this hasn't been as bad as I thought that it would be. There are really a lot of wheat-free things around these days, but I have been needing to do a lot more home cooking than I have done in recent years. Convenience foods just won't work any more.

I am still recovering from the election and still trying to make sense of it. Reading Kerstin has helped. There are also a ton of really awesome websites that I frequent. Sorry Everybody is a neat one. I am also slightly comforted by the fact that in the week and half leading up to the election, I spent 5 days in New Hampshire (a swing state) working at the Concord Democratic office. I spent election day coordinating the phone bank. What was really awesome was that we were expecting something like 30 volunteers, and ended up with something like 60+ volunteers - just for the phone lines!! It was really inspiring. At least we won NH!

This week, I've been reeling from the decision of NBC and CBS to refuse to broadcast the UCC Still Speaking ad. If anyone can explain what these people are thinking, I would appreciate it. The logic just doesn't even make any sense - even if I really try to understand!

Knitting?? Oh yeah, I'm doing some of that. I will try to post this weekend an update. I'm really going to make an effort to write more often.
